Oakum, hemp fiber coated in Stockholm tar, is the authentic caulking material that swells and expands to pack the joints and gaps of wooden boats. Choose oakum when you need to fill large gaps in planking, especially below the waterline. This is a fine commercial grade oakum imported from Europe arrives in a burlap bag, ready to be rolled on your knee for proper sizing or is also commonly used in the landscaping industry to fill between railroad ties, posts and between logs in building log homes.
