Gunmetal bronze is strong and resistant to salt water and does its job for a very long time.
Our bronze boat fittings are shipped in a high polish finish that can be restored or maintained using Daveyshine high performance metal polish. The bronze will slowly gain its natural, darker brown patina. Eventually, upon contact with sea air, a deep patina develops hints of green. The patina does not effect strength, performance or longevity.
(Gunmetal is the British term for this particular bronze alloy, sometimes referred to as red brass in the US)
